A concert for ensemble and interactive computer music systems presented by the UB Department of Music and the Hiller Computer Music Studios, featuring the E-MEX Ensemble, from Essen, Germany performing works by Hans Tutschku, Hilda Paredes, Christoph Maria Wagner, UB alumnus Carter Williams, and faculty member Cort Lippe. The E-MEX Ensemble was founded in 1999 by six musicians from western Germany. One of their core ideas is to establish close working relationships with composers to foster the ideal conditions to realize their artistic vision. The ensemble’s repertoire has grown to encompass over 300 works ranging from small chamber to large ensemble pieces. Four pieces in this program were written especially for the ensemble, reflecting the rich relations between the German and American new music traditions. E-MEX has worked intensively with these composers to realize their vision for these works.
